Privacy Policy

Your family's memories are precious, and so is your trust. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the control you keep, private by default, consent-first, and never sold.

Our approach to privacy

Tadda turns scattered family messages into one shared video gift. To do that well, we handle some personal data, and we treat it with the same care we would want for our own families.

Three promises shape everything that follows:

  • Private by default, your gift stays with the people you invite.
  • Consent-first, we ask before we use anything, and especially before any AI-assisted touch-up.
  • Deletable any time, you can ask us to erase your data whenever you wish.

We never sell your personal data, and we never use your content to train AI.

Who we are & how to reach us

Tadda is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, we decide what is collected and why, and we are responsible for keeping it safe.

Tadda is operated by [Tadda, registered entity name], based at [registered address]. We are still finalising our formal company details and will update this page as soon as they are confirmed.

For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, you can email our privacy team at hello@tadda.app.

Information we collect

We keep collection to what a gift actually needs. Depending on how you use Tadda, that can include:

  • Phone and account, organizers sign in with a phone number and a one-time code; we store the basics that keep your account working.
  • Contributions and media, the messages, photos, and clips you choose to add to a gift.
  • Payment metadata, when an organizer pays, our payment processor handles the card and payment details; we keep only metadata such as a confirmation and amount, never full card numbers.
  • Basic usage and device data, things like app version, language, and general diagnostics that help Tadda run reliably.

Contributors and recipients stay zero-install: adding a message or watching a gift never requires an account, a login, or an app.

How we use it & legal bases

We use your data to run Tadda, and nothing more surprising than that:

  • Deliver the gift, assemble your media into the finished video and share it with the people you choose.
  • Process payments, let the organizer pay securely through our payment processor.
  • Keep everyone safe, prevent abuse, fraud, and content that breaks our rules.
  • Support and communicate, answer your questions and send essential service messages.

Under the GDPR, we rely on a clear legal basis for each use:

  • Performance of a contract, to provide the gift you asked for.
  • Consent, for example, optional AI-assisted enhancements; you can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests, to keep Tadda safe, reliable, and improving, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation, when the law requires us to keep or share certain records.

When we share

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the providers that help us run Tadda, and only so they can do their job for us:

  • Hosting and content delivery, to store and stream your media securely.
  • Payment processing, to take the organizer's payment.
  • Messaging and delivery, for example, WhatsApp, to send gifts, links, and one-time codes.

These providers act on our instructions under data-processing agreements. We may also disclose data when the law genuinely requires it, for example, a valid legal request, always limited to what is necessary.

We do not sell your personal data, and we never share it for advertising.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as it is needed to provide your gift, meet our legal obligations, and resolve any disputes. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

You do not have to wait, you can ask us to erase your data at any time through our data deletion page.

Your rights

Wherever you live, we want you to stay in control. Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to:

  • Access, get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification, correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
  • Erasure, ask us to delete your data through our data deletion page.
  • Portability, receive your data in a portable, machine-readable form.
  • Restriction, ask us to pause certain processing while a concern is sorted out.
  • Objection, object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent, change your mind about anything you agreed to, at any time.

You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority (your supervisory authority). We would always rather put things right ourselves first, so please reach out and let us help.

How we protect your data

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted infrastructure, so your media stays private to the people you choose.

No service can promise perfect security, but we work continuously to safeguard your information and to respond quickly if anything ever looks wrong.

International data transfers

Tadda is built for diaspora families, so a gift often travels across borders, between Europe, Africa, and beyond. That sometimes means your data is processed in a country other than your own.

When data moves internationally, we use appropriate safeguards, such as recognised contractual protections, so it keeps a level of protection consistent with the GDPR.

Children's privacy

Tadda is not designed for young children, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Accounts and payments are for adults.

A child may appear in a gift, or add a message, only with a parent or guardian's involvement and consent. If you believe a child's data has reached us by mistake, contact us and we will remove it.

Cookies & local storage

We keep this simple: Tadda uses only essential cookies and local storage. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Specifically, we remember two preferences so the site behaves the way you expect:

  • tadda_theme — keeps your light or dark mode choice.
  • tadda_locale — remembers whether you prefer French or English.

Because these are essential to how Tadda works, there is nothing to opt out of, and nothing following you around the web.

Changes to this policy

As Tadda grows, this policy may evolve. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where it matters, let you know more directly.

If you keep using Tadda after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated policy.
